Fourteen outstanding photographers are on the long list for the Aimia / AGO Photography Prize – Canada’s leading contemporary photography award – formerly known as the Grange Prize.
Finalists come from nine countries and are competing for the $50,000 prize which honours living artists whose work in photography and video over the past five years has displayed extraordinary potential.
Four canadians are on the list : Jessica Eaton, Dan Siney, Erin Shirreff and Emanuel Licha.
A short list of four will be selected including at least one Canadian.
Those artists will receive a fully funded six-week residency in Canada and their work will be exhibited at the AGO beginning in September.
The winner will be selected by the public – casting votes inside the exhibition and by online voting beginning August 27th.
The $50,000 winner will be announced on November 7th.
